Knowlegde and Exchange

Long Time Everyone. Well I went to play the games and I really didn't know what I was doing. I tried playing Balance of Power. It isn’t until the second level that I realized that I was supposed to conquer land and build on it. Really boring game.

I decided to read the article from Brian Whitworth and Rob Friedman on “A Socio – Technical Vision of Democratic Knowledge Exchange”. This article had a lot of great points and facts based on how we view our systems of exchanging knowledge to each other. Whitworth and Friedman created the KES which forms three roles that help create: creation, discrimination, and development and dissemination. Each system breaks down how we have communicated knowledge in the past and even today.

I totally agree with Whitworth and Friedman when they say, “The problem lies not with these old theories but with a system that seems unable to grow new ones.” I have always said that we need to let go of the old when necessary and get on with the new. At my job I have experience this. I work at the African American Academy and they are closing the school down. But during the process we got lost in the old and new ways. And I strongly feel that if we would have taken our B plan and submitted it instead of the same old A plan then maybe we would be returning next year.
